South Staffs Water

Catchment Advisor

Maternity Cover (12 months)

Competitive salary dependent upon skills and experience Working 37 hours per week.

Based at Walsall (around 50% will be field based work, includes travel to Cambridge)

From source to tap we are proud of our reputation for delivering the highest standards of service to our 1.5 million customers over an area approximately 2,700 square km across South Staffs and Cambridge regions. As a water only Company, providing clean, healthy water 24 hours a day, 365 days a year is at the very heart of what we do and that’s where you come in. We have an exciting opportunity to help us plan how we manage catchments for drinking water supplies into the future in our South Staffs region.

Using existing data and liaising with internal and external stakeholders, you will be required to assist and drive forwards all aspects of our catchment management strategy.

This will involve supporting the existing catchment advisors in both regions in identifying where and how to effectively undertake catchment activities and assisting in delivery of existing catchment programmes. You will collect and analyse data (including fieldwork to collect sampling data) and liaise with landowners and managers for the provision of advice on water quality protection.  You will also be required to represent the Company at external stakeholder events, some of which are outside of normal working hours.

We are looking for someone who can engage with stakeholders (internally, and outside of the water industry), collect data, work out in the field whilst adapting and developing new techniques.

If you are a graduate (or possess equivalent skills and qualifications) with excellent communication skills, who is self-motivated, organised and proficient at using spread sheets, this may be the role for you. Ideally, you will have some experience of water supply and treatment, farming practices or agronomy and the water industry. Knowledge of BASIS would be an advantage.

A full valid driving licence is essential.

This is a great opportunity for the right candidate and we welcome applications from Male and Female applicants. As an employee of South Staffs Water you will have access to a range of benefits. For further details, please visit the Careers section of our website
