NIAB is a leading UK centre for plant science, crop evaluation and agronomy, delivering work from its regional network and headquarters in Cambridge. Our field crop research and impartial information is widely utilised by the agricultural community.
We are seeking a conscientious and enthusiastic Trials Officer to join our successful research team working on agricultural field trials relating to crop protection, agrochemicals and crop varieties. Field studies are conducted on site at Morley, Norfolk and also on agricultural crops at sites across East Anglia.
Applicants must have a good standard of secondary education and a full driving licence. Certificates for pesticide application (PA1,2,4,6), forklift, ATV and workshop skills are required for the job, however training will be provided where necessary. Previous experience in operating and maintaining farm machinery (e.g. tractors, combines, sprayers) an advantage. Computer literate with good data handling skills are required. Experience in agricultural trials or arable crops is desirable. . A flexible approach to the seasonal nature of the workload needed and you must be able to work on own initiative and as part of a team when required.
The salary is in the range of £18,532 to £20,591 pa, dependent on experience and qualifications with the potential to progress to a position of trials manager commanding a salary of £24,020 pa upon completion of a formal training programme.
