This is a wonderful opportunity for a school leaver with a keen interest in sheep and poultry farming who is also looking to be involved with the marketing of agricultural produce in the future. 

The candidate will need a clean full driving license and their own transport as the farm is in two locations.

The candidate will need to have accommodation within 15 miles of Market Harborough.

The role is very varied but main tasks will include assisting the poultry manager with day to day hen management and daily egg collection in the 20,000 free-range hen unit.  Training will be provided and the candidate will be expected to work on his/her own on the poultry manager’s day off.

The farm has 150 acres of arable land which is contracted out but tractor driving tasks are available connected with both sheep and poultry work.

The candidate will be expected to assist with grassland management, hay making and fencing tasks.

Sheep duties include lambing and selecting sheep for market and other husbandry work (worming, dipping, shearing, etc.)

Weekly Wage

£160 for 40 hours minimum.  Wage will be compliant with National Minimum Wage Guidelines and Apprenticeship Scheme Rules

Working Hours

40 hours per week (not including 1 hour lunch break) to include weekend duties

The ability to work as part of a team and also on your own initiative

Good time keeping

You must be enthusiastic and hard working 

Qualifications Required

The candidate must have GCSE grade C in English and Maths or equivalent.  The candidate must have their own transportation and a full, clean driver’s license.
